Persistent worlds for prospector

Postby magellan » Sat 28. Sep 2013, 15:15

Rethinking it, it wouldn't be that hard to have persistent sectors in prospector. Meaning that you could start a game in the same universe over and over again, until you get bored of it. So I ask you:

Persistant sectors: yay or nay?

revert to unexplored of course!
(I hadn't thought about prices for biodata and maps for stuff your former self already turned in. Maybe I could tick down the mapreward modifier for discovered planets with every reincarnation)
I am not sure a 2nd game in the old sector would be easier. The resources you plundered stay gone. So do bigger pirate fleets and other threats that tick up as time progresses.

Sounds like the proposed approaches would actually make it harder. It would probably only be worth it if you could plunder your old ship or something, as it would otherwise just punish you more in the short (fewer ways to make money) and long term (proliferation of hostiles).

Definitely nay.

I don't see an actual reason and fun to play in the same universe, where you already know even approximately, where and what things to look for.

Exploration of unknown is one of the things that makes the game interesting because it plays different every time. It's better to invest your manpower into adding new encounters/events, shaping up the game, fixing bugs.

If there are various possibilities that may, or may not occur during a said run, that have probability to occur because of loose player actions, it's even better, because you never know what to expect and what new you can stumble upon. Now that is something worth to think about adding.

Repetitive universe = boring, unless there is some alterations. But even then, Random universe + Random events > Persistent world + random events.

Yay, I think you should have the option to reset every game or keep it persistent, this way if someone doesn't enjoy that game style they can change it

New Map

Postby XxXAlphamaleXxX » Tue 1. Oct 2013, 16:24

I think it would be cool if the game was more endlessness, i mean its unlikely you are going to explore every planet and do everything possible before a bug or an evil planet kills you, but it would be nice if you could choose to go to a new section of the galaxy, for example you go to the space station and like retirement, but instead you choose "Next Sector" or whatever and take that character with its ship and crew to another fresh new map. This option could help with some bugs that would be fixed with a new map, not sure if any of this is possible but just a thought lol
