Hard bug

so basically the game quits on me out of nowhere on occasion resulting in a text only screen saying press any key to exit. this usually happens in a space battle but occasionally in a med bay when adding control chips. unfortunately there is no bug report file and save games seem a bit off.
ps. i forgot to mention i use windows 8.

another hard one. It kicks me out of the game when i try switching to a custom ship i designed and then i loaded the file but it didn't load the ship to specs. it had 0 max armor instead 0f 8 and only room for 3 crew. not to mention it threw away all my ship equipment apparently not having space for it. the design had a 4 in each category so bs. It even dumped fuel though it was refuelable.

i think the first is from the earlier problem with the chip
2 through 4 are space battle errors
and 5 is the reported ship error

Custom ships are broken, as are used ships. I think you can design them, but if you try to swap into them it loses all the data.

I am having the same problem as the OP, though I am not using a custom ship. Just one which has been upgraded normally.

It's been happening for me most of the time during *edit:* space battles. Specifically right after I try to fire at an enemy *edit:* ship. Here is the save file for the last one I just had. All around those little commented 'x's are where the enemies that I've been crashing with are around.

Same as the OP, I am using Windows 8 on my laptop. On my Windows 7 desktop I don't have as frequent problems. That could totally be a coincidence though.

EDIT 2:

I also noticed that when I load the savefile again and again, as I have been doing, each time I load it after a crash my ship has been shifted a bit north and a bit west from where it last was. I'm guessing the the enemy ship is also shifting in the same way, as I keep running into it around the same relative area. It's always near the same spot again (just shifted north and west), and it's always a pair of merchantmen.

So basically, many of those 'x's I've commented on that save file are, I think, the same set of ships that I keep crashing from. Maybe.

Ack another one

anyway i try using a grenade on a plasma turrent defense system on the abandoned planet thing but it does the whole shutdown instant crap and when i load i'm a little ways off. i cant damage it with my weapons so i tried a grenade anyhow
