Anyway you need answer and it will be: yes they are. You can bring spacefaring junk (ships) to big stations and get money for that. Also tractor beams maybe helpful for something else but i don't know for what.

Well currently no.

The cost to reward ratio is null basically. Some stations don't seem to take derelicts, plus you have to buy 2-3 goddamn tractor beams in order to make it back, as for some reason they're made of paper mache.

Plus derelicts only give 1.5-2k per derelict.
