Reasoning (sort of)

[+] Spoiler: It's not really in the game but somewhere I think of the crystal hybrids as a weapon constructed by the ancients that went out of control. So they are immune to "ancients cloaking" and having a piece of them makes you immune too. It's not the best thought out story

[+] Spoiler: Still makes more sense than mine idea what boring rock was covered by remote (A lot and lot of parsecs away . via ancients foul technological sorcery no less) psionic cloaking field generated by "berserker" crystal shards from crystal world (after all I thought trigger was destroying dat crystals)... which cuz of that didn''t had too much energy left to immediately take control over player's crew especially knowing what single(!) shard easily controlled all this colonists at human outpost.
